WOQ

WOQ

Aluminum wok for the induction stove

The wok is the most versatile pan in the kitchen. Once you master the basics you can cook chef-style dishes at home.

The traditional way of cooking with a wok, heating-up oil and spices to very high temperatures by tilting the pan, is not possible on induction cooktops. WOQ brings back the full experience of wok cooking in modern kitchens through a second heat zone in the bottom of the pot. The low-pressure lid allows users to seal the pot and reduce time to prepare their meal.

Induction cooking is the most ecological-friendly way of cooking, but it has its limitations.
In most modern European kitchens, induction cooktops are the new standard. The traditional way of cooking with a wok, is heating up oil and spices to very high temperatures by tilting the pan.  If you tilt a pan on an induction cooktop, the surfaces don’t touch and heat will not be transferred so you are not able to wok like a real chef.
WOQ wants to positively impact society by offering a chef-style vessel for (healthy) cooking on induction cooktops. WOQ stimulates the global sustainability transition from gas stoves to induction cooktops and triggers users to eat versatile and nutritious.

How to design a wok for induction stoves that gives the same experience as the traditional wok on gas?

The solution
Induction wok with two heat zones

WOQ enables modern home cooks to use a wok on their induction cooktop as a master chef would. One main skill is to tilt the wok so that oil flows to the corner of the vessel and reaches a high temperature to prepare spices before mixing them with other food. If you tilt a regular pan on an induction cooktop, the surfaces don’t touch and heat will not be transferred. WOQ has the solution; a second heating surface that touches the induction cooktop when tilted so the heating process continues. Next to that, a sealed lid enables the wok for low-pressure cooking.

2 heat surfaces

The WOQ pan has a horizontal and angled diagonal heat surface so that the pan can be tilted and still be in connection with the induction cooktop

Low pressure cooking

The air-tight lid enables users to cook in regular- and low-pressure mode

Stylish design

A stylish minimalistic design that fits modern interior kitchens

Heat up oil and spices

The two heat zones on the bottom side of the wok ensure that the wok always touches the induction cooktop, in both regular and tilted positions, so that heat will be transferred like with a gas stove. This enables users to heat oil and spices in a tilting position on an induction cooktop, just like they would be able to do on a gas stove.

Minimal design

The WOQ resembles a traditionally shaped wok to which a minimal design style is applied. The form of the wok follows the function in a clean way to not disrupt the market but it easily engage with many cooking enthusiasts. The main body is made of a die-casted aluminum and assembled with an induction bottom surface, bakelite handle, glass lid, and silicone straps. A traditional design ready for new technology.

Low pressure lid

The knob on top of the lid can rotate to let users switch from a regular cooking mode to a completely different cooking experience. With a simple twist, the lid enables the possibility for low-pressure cooking. The reduced cooking time makes meals healthier and tastier.

Easily switch between cooking styles

There is no other wok pan on the market that gives cooking enthusiasts the possibility to use a wok on an integrated induction cooktop as it should. The brand differentiates itself by providing a traditional cooking user experience for the new induction technology and it also expressed that through its aesthetics. Clean, straightforward, simple, and easy to use.
