Omni-view

Money counter that displays to cashier and customer simultaneously

Money counting machines are still very common in the Chinese retail environment. Retailers buy this product for safety and clarity, but often the situation results in the complete opposite.

Omni-view is designed to show the money counting process to both the cashier and their customer. The displays around the top border are visible from different directions to clearly communicate how much money was counted to everyone simultaneously. The dynamic line work with integrated displays form unity to enrich the counter and above all, extend the product life cycle.

Research

Commonly in China, there is a low trust among strangers especially when it comes to money-related situations. Throughout our market research we saw that money counters are used in many different places. However none of the money counters were used in a single main orientation.

The money is taken from the customer and inserted in the machine. Once the counting process is finished, the vendor shows the result by turning the display towards the customer. The two-step process of counting and showing the result ends often in an awkward situation when the number of bank notes is different than the cashier or client expected.

Most of the existing money counter models have an external display that impacts the aesthetics in a negative way. They can get easily damaged due to the fragile construction, which requires the user to rely on the built-in speaker. Altogether, not an ideal experience for both sides.

How can we create a space efficient money counter that establishes trust and safety for the vendors and their customers?

The solution

Omni-view is a money counter with integrated displays, located at the front and sides of the product. This allows vendors and their customers to see how much money was counted at the same time, from any direction.

Each display is built in on a 45-degree angle to maximize visibility, because the money counter is normally placed below eyesight. The integrated displays result in a sturdy design and avoid that parts can easily break off. It also requires a smaller packaging, making transportation more efficient.

Trustworthy counting process

Simultaneously visible for cashier and customer

Durable construction

Integrated displays for solid structure

Efficient transportation

Compact design requires less space during transportation

Clear orientation

Money can be inserted from the front while the cashier and customer can see the counting result from the side. The backside with power cord can be placed against a wall.

Intuitive use

On the right side of the money counter is the control panel located. The touch buttons on the panel allow the user to change counting and currency settings.

Dynamic design

Integration of the displays in a 45-degree angle in combination with the straight line work resulted in a dynamic unit that sparks the counter.
